What we do…

OnLion History
OnLion was founded in 2003 to carry out the project Operation Sneaker, a media based fundraising program to raise money for sport camps to rehabilitate child soldiers through sports.

Together with star athletes like Dirk Nowitzki, Edwin Moses, Boris Becker and Robbie Naish in cooperation with MTV, Laureus World Sport Awards and Mercedes Benz the program funded sport camps in Chad and Sierra Leone, where freed child soldiers were given a chance to play again and grow towards a more normal life away from the horrors of war and conflict.

In 2004 OnLion diversified to develop media formats with clear focus of reaching young audiences with a message. OnLion started developing online video already in 2006 under the development effort TinStream. Originally focused on content for mobile network delivery, OnLion shifted focus towards browser based content when the iPhone showed the way towards a truly functional mobile internet of content.

At the time when generation Y came of age and started to take over the new media world growing around the YouTube phenomena. OnLion started working together with this new creator generation to help accelerate the change of the television and advertising industry towards social TV.

In 2011 these efforts led to founding Mediakraft Networks, which grew quickly to become the leading online video network in Germany, Turkey, Netherlands and Poland. With Mediakraft, Astrid and Spartacus supported the growth of some of the biggest online stars in Germany, like Y-Titty, Apecrime and LeFloid.

Through the creation of programming like Was Geht Ab!? The Great War and The Simple Club they helped create factual and educational formats, reaching tens of millions of young viewers. In 2016 Astrid and Spartacus sold their share in Mediakraft to focus on the next steps of the online media revolution.
